Exam target

For the ÖSD Zertifikat B2, you must be able to communicate and interact fluently and spontaneously so that communication with native speakers requires no effort on the part of either interlocutor.

You must understand the main ideas of complex texts, even when they deal with abstract topics, including technical conversations within your area of specialization, and can express yourself clearly and in detail on various matters as well as present your point of view on a current topic.

The exam is aimed at students aged 16 and older and consists of two modules: a written exam (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression) and an oral exam (oral expression).

 

Before taking the corresponding ÖSD exam, we recommend that you:

  • Have completed and passed a complete B2 level course.
  • Know the format and conditions of the ÖSD exam.
  • Remember that on exam day, instructions will be given in German.

Comprehension of authentic audio texts such as radio programs, interviews, conversations, and reports from German-speaking areas.

  • Task 2: Informational conversation - complete table and multiple choice (several items)

Writing


Writing different types of texts: formal complaint email and expression of opinion on social topics.

Conduct conversations and discussions: getting to know each other, describing images, and exchanging opinions on various topics.

Exam administration

The ÖSD Zertifikat B2 consists of two modules: a written exam (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression) and an oral exam (oral expression). These modules can be taken and certified separately or in combination. Candidates who pass both modules on one exam date will receive a certificate listing both completed modules. Candidates who pass both modules within one year and at the same exam center will also receive a certificate listing the two completed modules. Candidates who have taken and passed only one module will receive a certificate for the corresponding module.

The exam will be conducted by two certified ÖSD examiners who will subsequently evaluate the candidate's performance (see Gesamtbogen). Upon request, access to the answer sheet is possible.
